Strawberry Extraction Activity

Purpose of the ExperimentThis experiment showed me the way in which DNA can be extracted. I learned that this process can be used not only in strawberries, but in a variety of organisms. This process contains breaking down the cell wall and extracting the product of DNA from a substance.

1) Smash strawberries in ziploc bag to break down cell wall.2) Add the extraction liquid to the ziploc bag with the strawberries.3) Transfer mixture into a different jar and slowly add rubbing alcohol.
