Steps in the Water Cycle

When water falls back to earth as precipitation, it may ball back into oceans, lakes, or rivers. Some water will be soaked up by the ground. Plants and animals use it to drink. Water is collected in this step, and the cycle begins again!

Precipitation occurs when so much water has condensed that the air cannot hold it anymore! The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet, or snow.

Water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back into liquid, forming clouds.

The sun heats up the water in rivers, lakes, and oceans turns it into vapor or steam. The water vapor or steam then rises into the air.
