Stephen Hawking~ Paragraph one

*Who Was the Scientist?*

On January 8, 1942, Stephen Hawking was born in the town of Oxford, England. When Stephen was eight years old, he and his family packed up and moved 20 miles north of Oxford to a town called St. Albans. Hawking was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) at a very young age. ALS is a serious neurological disease that causes muscle weakness, different kinds of disability, and can eventually cause death. A little while after Stephen had been diagnosed with ALS, his body shut down in a way that he was forced to be in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. Not even being able to make the slightest bit of movement, Hawking communicates through a computer connected to his wheel chair. With the majority of his body being paralysed, he has to operate the computer with no more than his right cheek. Hawking uses his cheek to press in the first few letters of every word to then have the computer make a sentence and talk for Stephen. The words coming out have a slight English/robotic accent to it, but that is fine with Hawking as long as people are able to communicate with him. ~When Hawking was asked about his views on how to live life he answered with... "Seek the greatest value of our actions."
