CASE STUDY: Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary (Kenya) Established in 1986, the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary remains a stronghold for black rhinos as well as a breeding ground to help bolster other rhino sanctuaries and wild populations.

Black rhinos feed at night and during the gloaming hours of dawn and dusk. Under the hot African sun, they take cover by lying in the shade.

The black rhinoceros has long been hunted for its horns, thought, in some cultures, to possess magical and medicinal qualities.
