States of Matter

Sublimation: Change a solid directly to a gas (without changing to a liquid)

How to change matter from a solid, to liquid, to gas!

Solids, Liquids, Gassesand Plasma

Add Heat

Melting = Solid to Liquid

Boiling = Liquid to Gas(direct heat)

Gas, also known as:- Steam- Water Vapor

Add Cold

Condensation (Gas to Liquid):Watch the video and see how the warm air (gas) in the room (on the outside of the glass), hits the cold glass and then turns into water droplets (liquid).

Evaporation =Liquid to Gas (indirect heat)

Freezing = Liquid to Solid

Add Cold

Add Heat

Solid back to Liquid

Plasma: when a gas is heated by 1000s of degrees, the gas becomes ionized. This is called plasma.
