Occurs from 7 to 11 years of age

What occurs in this stage?

In this stage, logical thinking about concrete events and analogies begins to occur. Children begin to realize that concrete materials do not change volume just because they change shape.  A concept of Conservation begins to develop in children. Children gain mental ability to comprehend mathematical transformations and gain a deeper understanding of processes.

Children are finally able to exhibit greater levels of thinking in this stage.

This young boy shows that he understands how concrete materials work, and he now wonders why he is being asked such easy questions!
