Quote of St. Damien

“Without the constant presence of our Divine Master upon the altar in my poor chapels, I never could have persevered casting my lot with the lepers of Molokai.” -St. Damien

When he moved to Hawaii he made it his mission to go to the Island of Molokai and help the Leper Colony. When no one else would help these people, he did. He received many oppurtunities to return home to the mainland. Even when he contracted the disease he chose to stay with his people.
