Culture & Hidden Curriculum

My mentor teacher seems to promote a classroom culture that is positive, encouraging, and accepting, as she has students partake in songs and dances that are very inclusive, offers accessible learning tools to accommodate to different learning styles, and mediates disputes while simultaneously encouraging civil and respectful behavior.

In terms of hidden curriculum, I recognized that many students were more or less responsive depending on language and cues from my mentor teacher. When she would engage in positive language and commend students for a good behavior or correct answer, students seemed more enthralled with the lesson. The same held true for rewarding students with tickets. However, when my teacher used negative language or tone, morale seemed low and students seemed more inclined to goof around.
