- There was a huge sense of hostility that the south felt towards them- The southerners did not like Lincoln at all- 7 states seceded within 3 months of Lincoln's election- Despite being a moderate, the southerners viewed Lincoln as a radical abolitionist- The southerners didn't want to deal with Lincoln and seceded.-President Buchannan did nothing to stop the secession- The north and south had very different views on almost everything
