Instruments:Valiha tube zither, a specialty of the Merina people of the central highlands, resemble instruments found in Indonesia. Other insruments are a marovany, kabosy, varieties of flutes drums , and other string instruments.

Spanish and Portuguese settlers, enslaved people and workers brought from Africa and Asia, as well as natives all brought something special from their own culture.
