S.O.F.I.A  has been on its mission for 11 years now. S.O.F.I.A has discovered many things over these years, that have given scientists information of the universe. S.O.F.I.A has uncovered clues to the evolution of the universe and search for life. She finds cool dust around energetic active black holes, confirms nearby planetary system is similar to our own, finds the missing link between supernovae and planet formation, and a lot more.

Our mission is named S.O.F.I.A. S.O.F.I.A stands for Stratospheric Observatory For Infrared Astronomy. S.O.F.I.A was launched on April 1st, 2007. The mission's launch date was extended due to extended maintenance. The mission stays inside of Earth's atmosphere, so there is no specific target for it. There were 28 high school teachers aboard.
