- Born in July 1783 in Caracas, Venezuela. - He married Maria Rodriguez in Madrid in 1802. She died from yellow fever when they returned to Venezuela.- From 1813-1816 he led a military campaign to liberate Venezuela and Ecuador from spanish forces. - In 1821 he became the president of Gran Colombia. - In 1824 he liberated Peru from the Spanish. - In 1828 he avoided an assassination attempt. - He resigned his presidency in 1830. - He died that same year from Tuberculosis.
