HISTORYDiscovered in 1824 by Jons Jacab Berzelius in Sweeden. Silicons name is derieved from the latin word "silicis" which means the word flint. It was also discovered in another form (crystalline silicon) by Deville in 1854.

CHEMICAL PROPERTIESSilicon is a reative substance when it reacts with Oxygen in the air (forms Silicon Dixodie).Also, it primarily can only dissolve in a mixture of nitric acid and hyrdoflouric acid.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIESThe most abundant element in the Earth's crust, Silicon is found in just about everything. However, at room temperature Silicon is a solid with its melting point being 1410 C and the boling point 2355 C.
