Show what you know: NEON

Neon is used for many things but the main reason is to illumenate the color for advertising signs.

FUN FACTS!Neon is apart of the noble gases family. It was discoverd in 1898.The name neon comes from the greek for veon which means new.Neon gas emits a brilliant red-orange color when charged with electricity.

Neon's symbol is Ne and has the atomic number 10 on the periodic table.

Neon is a colorless, odorless inert (not chemically reactive) gas, but when charged with electricity it makes a bright orange red color.

While experimenting on liquid air, Sir William Ramsay and Morris Travers discovered neon in 1898.

The scientists had only recently discovered krypton prior to their discovery of neon, and would discover xenon shortly afterwards.

Neon is the second lightest inert gas, as well as being the second lightest noble gas after helium.

Neon is obtained commercially by fractional distillation of liquid air.

Neon is in the noble gases family with Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton, and etc
