[2015] Lauren Concepcion: Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World

The type of conflict carried throughout the story is Man v.s. Nature. Ernest Shackleton plus his crew face cold, dry Antarctica, and trying to survive and get rescued after their ship, the Endurance sank.

Characters

The setting takes place in Antarctica, specifically the Antarctic Circle. The climate there is really cold, dry, and the largest desert in the world. Shackleton's expedition started in the 1910s, and he and his crew temporarily camped in their traveling boat, the Endurance.

Setting

The theme is A Quest or Journey because the Endurance crew travel across the Antarcic Circle and be the first ones to explore around it.

The Endurance crew get picked up by a rescue ship, and on August 30, they saw it, the Yelcho, a 20-foot long boat and return back to England
