Fun Facts!1. He was born on September 25, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois and died on May 10, 1999 in Key West, Florida from a heart attack.2. He stated in an interview that he started writing and drawing when he was a young teenager because he wasn't good at sports and he wasn't good with girls.3. He served in the U.S. arms in the 1950's where he spent time in Korea and Japan and drew cartoons for the Pacific Stars and Stripes.4. His first book was "Uncle Shelby's Story of Lafacdio: The Lion Who Shot Back."5. He wrote the song "A Boy Named Sue" for Johnny Cash. He wrote many other songs as well and released multiple albums for them and also wrote movie soundtracks.
