RatiosIn the News!

The assignment is to find ratios in the news.We searched oncnn.com/studentnews

I selected "Kentucky Derby Fast Facts." After reading the story, I explain how there are ratios in everyday life.

The Kentucky Derby = 1/3 of the Triple CrownThe race takes 2 minutes or 120 seconds. The race is 1/2 over at 60 seconds. The race is 1/30 of an hour. The race started in 1875.2016-1875 = 141There have only been 3 phillies to win.3/141 simplified to 1/47 There are 120,000 Mint Julips served during the two day festival for Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby. There are 24 hours in a day and 48 hours in two days.120,000/48 or 2,500 Mint Julips are made each hour for two days.
