In Renaissance times, in the time of Shakespeare, women's dress was quite complex! So complex, in fact that most women had people to dress them! Since the Globe theatre is a bit of a replica (the original theatre burned down in 1644 and then again a second time once it was rebuilt, due to a stage accident with a cannon fire), we saw a re-enactment of how they got dressed in those times, as well.
