Site preparation on top of the 100-meter high hill began in 2006, and construction of the bronze statue began 3 April 2008. Originally scheduled for completion in December 2009, delays stretched into early 2010, and the formal dedication occurred on 4 April 2010, Senegal's "National Day", commemorating the 50th anniversary of the country's independence from France. It is the tallest statue in Africa.

UQ: how has your country been affected by European imperialism?

before the Berlin conference senegal was great for many Indenginous groups and to spread their culture, there was no rules and it was a happy independent country soon after the Europeans heard about the resources Africa had to offer most European countires came to take many countries over one of which is senegal. .senegal has been affected by imperialism by french colinized senegal in 1895-1960. Their goal was to take over many things like the trade routes and their resources. The french tried changing their beliefs to christianity but later failed because senegalese had strong belief for Islam. one thing the french changed was their languageaccording to many book french is the national language for senegal. during the time many senegalese people learned many french cultures and brought them to civilization by learning to read and write. senegal was affected good and bad but not as bad as other countries because the french gave them rights and not treated differently.

sengal people believe in many gods of islam and do their dances and songs to the god to give thanks. and to tradition to keep going from their ancestors.

Accessibility

Its distinct pink colour is caused by the Dunaliella salina bacteria, which is attracted by the lake’s salt content. The bacteria produces a red pigment in order to absorb the sunlight, thus giving the lake its unique colour.

senegal has high accessibility, things that support senegal high access is that its located next to the Atlantic ocean, which promotes trades and explians why senegal was easy to colonize.
