The savanna is a tropical grassland with shrubs and isolated trees. There is not enough rainfall to support forests. It has an overall warm temperature year round. Winter is the dry season and summer becomes the wet season with plenty of rainfall.
During the dry season in the savanna an average of 4 inches of rain falls. During the wet season 15-25 inches of rain falls. During the months of December and Feburary there is little to no rain that falls making the soil dry and an overall decrease in water sources for the plants and animals in the savanna.
Since the savanna has an overall warm temperature year round the average temperature of the tropical grassland is around 70°F. During the winter the soil will become dry at the top and only adapted plants can live here.
