[2015] Arianna Nelson: Saturn Poster

Saturn!

Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system. Its diameter is 120,536 km and has a mass of 5.688x10^26 kg, this means that its density is less than water. Saturn takes 29 years to complete one rotation and spins on its axis very fast, to complete one full rotation every 10 hours.

The photo above labels the location of each of Saturns rings.

The photo above shows Saturn and the Cassini division which is the largest of the gaps between the rings.

The photo above is the Titan moon that orbits Saturn. It is Saturns largest moon and was discovered on March 25, 1655 by Christiaan Huygens.

The picture on the left is the Mimas moon of Saturn. It was discovered in 1789 by Willian Herschel and its name refers to a son of Gaia in Greek mythology.

The photo above is the Enceladus moon, the sixth largest moon of Saturn. It was discovered in 1789 by William Herschel but not much was known of the moon until the two voyager spacecraft in the 1980s.

The photo to the left is the Phoebe moon of Saturn. It is an irrelgular satellite of Saturn, a little over 200 km in diameter and is said to be a captured planetesimal from the Kuiper belt. It was discovered in 1899 by William Henry Pickering.
