General Information
-Also Called Loma-Prieta eartquake-Happened on the 17th of October 1989-Caused 69 deaths and thousands of injuries-Triggered by a slip on the San Andreas fault line-It's epicentre was in the forest of Nisene Marks State Park-Loma-Prieta is in the mounatins of Santa Cruz-6.9 on the Richter Scale-San Fransisco and Oakland damaged most-Alameda, Santa Clara, Monterey and Santa Cruz were also affected-There were 6,000 aftershocks felt-The 2 plates were the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate

Damage Done
- The San Fransisco Marina district were severely damaged because of liquefaction -Old reinforced buldings collapsed- The Earthquake damaged the bay area transportation system-The earthquake struck just before the start of the third game of the 1989 World Series, being played between two Bay Area baseball teams the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics
Preparation
-The Golden Gate Bridge can have triangles under the bridge-The Marina district can haveinfaltable objects under their houses to avoid liquefaction-The San Fransisco-Oakland Bridge can have a reinforced top layer-Have your house on a firm foundation-All the other bridges can have arches
