SignificanceSamuel de Champlain discovered theOttawa River, Lake Huron, and Lake Ontario. Champlain also founded Quebec, which was the first French colony in Canada.
BackgroundA new class of European merchants emerged and they wanted to sell items such as jewels and silk. They traveled in order to do this. People from Portuguese traveled to the west coast of Africa and they set up trading posts so that they could gather gold and silver. The Black Death was a struggle for many people so they tried moving in order to find cures and chances of survival.
