[2014] Danielle Domini: Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph was the husband of Mary, and the foster father of Jesus. He was born in Bethlehem. Joseph was a very hard-working man. He worked as a carpenter for a living. When God sent an angel to appear in Joseph's dream to tell him the truth about Jesus, Joseph listened and married Mary. He always had a strong faith in God so he trusted Him in his first dream. Joseph then had another dream where an angel came to him and told him to take himself and his family to Egypt to escape King Herod. Saint Joseph obeyed God's commands and fled to Egypt with Mary and Jesus. They then traveled to Nazareth after King Herod's death when it was safe. They all then went to a Passover celebration where Mary and Joseph had been separated from Jesus and searched for Him for three days straight. It is said that Saint Joseph died before Jesus' public ministry. He is a patron of the dying, the Universal Church, carpenters, social justice, and fathers. Saint Joseph's feastday is March nineteenth.
