Conflict:The story begins by Kirra Jacobs discovering her uncle has gone missing on Alaska’s Iditarod race. And now they have to send a search and rescue team to find him.Setting: Iditarod race, it’s a dog-sled race that takes place in Alaska every March. The Author, Dani Pettrey, talks about how there’s no better place than the Iditarod race to combine the McKenna’s love for adventure and extremes. Protagonist: Kirra Jacobs loves animals, snowshoeing, volunteering, and cross-country skiing. She is a veterinarian, and she is the owner of Nanhook Haven (Shelter for rescued sled gods). When Kirra finding out her uncle is missing there is no stopping her, she is determined to find out what’s going on.Genre: AdventurePoint of View: Narrortor is teling the story.

Climax: Reef (Kirra’s search-and-rescue partner) finds Kirra sneaking out to investigate he goes with her. The whole McKenna family helps to uncover clue after clue to find out the mystery of Kirra’s missing Uncle. The discovered that Franks Daughter has been kidnapped. The whole family joins together to stop this villain, who is willing to cause one of the largest disasters Alaska has ever seen. Nothing is going to get in the way of them. Resolution: since the villain is holding Frank's daughter hostage the McKenna's do what he says to get her back.Theme: Hope in the middle of brokenness. God is able to bring healing and hope even with the worst circumstances. If we trust God he will answer our requests, sometimes it takes time and we have to be patient and trust him because he is faithful and brings us healing. It doesn’t mean that God will always answer us the way we want him to, but he will provide us with what we need to get through whatever the circumstance is.

Characterization

Reef - Reef and Kirra have known each other basically their whole lives, but were always at odds. Then they were coincidentally put together as search-and-rescue partners for the Iditarod race, and there is a spark of attraction. Reef came back as a changed man since they last saw each other last and he was always by her side helping her and staying with her (he even went in the freezing weather with her to look for her Uncle). Reef is a loyal, trustworthy, and supportive young man. Frank – Although Frank wasn’t present in the book much he still had a huge role in this story. Frank’s daughter had been kidnapped and Frank was pressured into an evil plot in return for his daughter. Frank was willing to do whatever it took to get his daughter back, that is true love. All frank was focused on was his daughter being alright and in order to get her back he had to participate in an evil plot. Frank was a loyal father and that showed that he truly loved his daughter unconditionally.
