The Rough Riders was made entirely of volenteers. There was a total of 1,250 men that were apart of it. The Rough Riders were made moslty out of college athletes, cowboys, ranchers, miners, and other outdoorsmen. The main weapons that they used were bolt action rifles, revolvers and colt- browning machine guns. The machine guns were a last minute gift from a wealthy doner.

As a child Teddy Roosevelt was very sickly. He had delbilitating asthma. He regained his health by becoming an outdoors man. He attended Harvard and his first published book was The Naval War of 1812 in 1882. He was in the military from 1882 to 1886.

Teddy Roosevelt was Colonel of the Rough Riders. Besides being Colonel of the Rough Riders he later became the President of the United States. In his Presidency Teddy Roosevelt

The men that made up the Rough Riders were from Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The men were picked from these four areas because they were from a hot climate that was similar to Cuba. In addition the men were trained to shoot from horse back.
