* Born Febuary 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama.* She refused to give her seat up on the bus whick caused a city-wide boycott. This helped end segreation to public facilities.* She recieved the NAAPC's highest award.* Park's chilhood brought her experiances with dimcrimination and activism to racial equilty.* She was taught to read at a young age by her mother.* African americans were forced to walk to the schoolhouse while whites got to ride on the bus.* She attened segregated schools.* In grade 11 she attened labatory school for secondary education only for negros.* She stopped going to school to attend her sick grandma and mom in Pine Level.* At age 19 she met and married Raymond Parks.* Earned her high school degree in 1933.* She became involved in civil rights by joining the Montgomery chapter of the NAAPC in 1943.* Parks got awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom.* On December 1, 1955 Rosa refused to give up her seat to a white and she got arrested.* December 5, 1955 all blacks we asked to stay off the city buses.* Boycott started the morning of December 5, 1955.* The boycott offically ended December 20, 1956.* In 1992 she published My Story.* In 1995 she published Quiet Strenght.

* All Montgomery bus transportions were required to segregated and the bus driver had powers of a police officer. * Bus drivers were required to assign seats to the passangers. * There was a line in the middle of the bus that seperated the whites from the blacks.* Whites were in the front half of the bus and the blacks were in the back half of the bus.* African americans had to load the bus at the front to pay there fare then get off and reboard at the back of the bus.* If the white section was filled up the bus driver moved the line back and asked the blacks to give up there seats.
