Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks

She had not sought this moment but she was ready for it. When the policeman bent down to ask “Auntie, are you going to move?” all the strength of all the people through all those many years joined in her. She said, “No.”

Rosa Parks Bio.....

Take a Seat

Rosa Parks (1913-2005)Rosa's act of defiance became one of the most important symbols of the modern Civil Right's Movement. She stood along side some other famous activists such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Edgar Nixon. Some citizens before her that took the same stand were Claudette Colvin, Aurelia Browder, Susie McDonald, and Mary Louise Smith. They too were arrested but didn't make as big of an impact in court as Parks. She was already an activist through other avenues before the bus incident, and did not refuse her seat to be recognized so much... she was just tired of giving in.Her birthday (February 4th) and the day she refused to give up her seat (December 1st) are both Rosa Parks Day in California and Ohio. For more Facts about Rosa Parks...
