[2014] russo0815: Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks wanted to stop racism on buses and to become the "mother" of the civil rights movement.

Lasting Impact

About a year after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, the supreme court passed down a ruling that segregation on buses was unconstitututional. Because of rosa parks, today when you get on a bus no matter what race you are, you are free to sit wherever you want.
