1.) Late night on March 2, 1991, a man named Rodney King refused to pull over when followed by police.2.) When Rodney King resisted arrest, a couple officers tried to use force and taser King to become subdued. 3.) Two other officers started beating King with a nightstick.4.) One officer lastly kicked King in the head. 5.) A man who was nearby heard the commotion and decided to film the incident.

6.) The video went viral, being posted on the internet and being shown on television.7.) The officers involved in the incident were Laurence Powell, Timothy Wind, Theodore Briseno and Stacey Koon.8.) The trial held against the officers was originally set in L.A., but was moved becuase of the bias L.A. would have.9.) The jury of the trial was mostly white, and many people were uneasy about the fact that there were no black people.10.) The officers got let off easy which sparked the most violent riots in L.A.

16.) Rodney King later released a statement about ending the riots and getting along. 17.) After everything, cheif of the L.A.P.D. quit because he thought his officers had a bad reputation.18.) Most people believed that the L.A.P.D. were wrong because og their racial intolerance.19.) After his beating, King struggled with substance abuse.20.) King went on to write his own book titled, The Riot Within: My Journey from Rebellion to Redemption.

11.) Over 50 people were killed in the riots, over 2,000 injured, and almost 10,000 people were arrested.12.) There was over 1 billion dollars in damage to the city.13.) There were almost 10,000 troops sent to L.A. to restore the peace. 14.) Rodney King originally wanted 1 million dollars for every hit the officers gave him.15.) He ended up getting 3.8 million.

Some examples of suspected intolerance today are the Mike Brown incident, the NYC riots, and the Trayvon Martin incident.
