Before we can talk about rocks, we need to know what makes up the earth, since rocks form on the earths surfaces!
Rocks and the Earth
Rocks and Minerals
Every kind of rock is made of two or more minerals, so we need to know where minerals form on the earth!
Hello Students! In science, we will be focusing on rocks and the rock cycle! This includes Igneous rocks, Sedimentary rocks, and Metamporphic rock.We will examine how these rocks fit into the cycle itself :)
Essential Questions:1. What can rocks tell us about the Earth?2. Why should we study rocks?3. Why do rocks change forms?
Igneous Rocks
Metamoprhic
Igneous rocks are made from lava and magma that has cooled
Metamorphic rocks are formed when other kinds of rocks undergo great heat or pressure
Sedimentary rocks are formed when other kinds of rocks undergo great heat or pressure
Sedimentary
All three of these types of rocks make up the rock cycle and are at different stages within the cycle
