To the virgins, to make much of time
The flowers are the virgins/feminine gender, because the flowers symbolises human life cyclus.
The sun is the "he" in a female's life. The sun is the time, and when the sun goes down a new day is ahead.
Not to live innocently, but risky because one only has life once, therefore; enjoy life while you've got it.
Meaning: To enjoy life through youth mostly and afterwards as adult, because death can occur at any given time.
Metaphor
Life is riskyLove is dangerousBoth are worth it
Metaphor
Life <> deathYouth <> adulthood
Contrasts
The line: "You may forever tarry" implies that one may always long for that lost opportunity and regret the same. Why later await an opportunity that exists in the now?
