ROARING 20S

The new music & dances were fast paced and energetic, like the optimistic 1920's themselves. They were an escape from the horror of war, and an opportunity to release pent up emotions created by the restricted lifestyles forced on the public by the war effort.

During Prohibition, the manufacture, transportation, import, export, and sale of alcoholic beverages were restricted or illegal.

Presidents during the Roaring 20's include: Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921)Warren G. Harding (1921-1923)Calvin Coolidge (1923-1929)Herbert Hoover (1929-1933)

by the end of 1920, 75% of Canadian homes had a telephone!

girls with short hair, make-up & short, baggy dresses were called Flappers!
