The prisoners were assigned to Crematorium IV and were told that they would be killed.
Revolt by Auschwitz Inmates
The prisoners were afraid of dying so they came up with a plan to revolt. They killed some of the guards and then escaped. Most were recaptured and killed. 250 prisoners died fighting and another 200 were shot. In addittion, the women that helped the prisoners were hung.
The women would put the gunpowder in cloth and paper, hide it on them, and then pass it in the smuggling chain.
The revolt was taken place in Auschwitz-Birkenau in Oct. 1944. Those involved were the prisoners and workers at a clothing detail place. The workers supplied the prisoners with gunpowder. The gunpowder was going to help the prisoners make a bomb that way they could escape.
