However, some wetlands have no connection to surface water like rivers, lakes or the ocean.

Some of these services, or functions, include protecting and improving water quality. They are providing fish and wildlife habitats, and storing floodwaters. They are also maintaining surface water that flow during dry periods of time.

Wetlands are biomes that help nation's water resources and are an important part of the water communities. If there were no wetlands the places where it would rain it would flood.Wetlands Are places where the water covers the soil.Wetlands are often found alongside waterways and in flood plains.

Unlike most other habitats, wetlands directly improve other ecosystems because of its many cleansing habitats.Many animals that live in other habitats use wetlands for habitats when they are migrating.

Wetlands also include swamps, marshes and bogs. Wetlands are wide because of differences in soils, climate, and other factors.Wetlands feed downstream waters, trap floodwaters, recharge groundwater supplies, remove pollution, and provide fish and wildlife habitat.

Connections

Wetlands protection programs are most effective when coordinated with other surface and groundwater protection programs.With other resource management programs, such as flood control, water supply, protection of fish and wildlife, recreation, control of stormwater, and nonpoint source pollution.
