Research and Educational Change

The literature review that I have researched thus far has allowed me to understand the importance of parental participation and the impact that it has on the school system and students. My reviews also influenced me to make sure that I gained more information on each of the cultures that are represented in my class so that I understand their philosophy and importance of education. The reviews show the importance of parental involvement and how it can be expanded to the higher grade levels of education. Teachers can see the impact of positive and active involvement when it is established and continuous in the beginning of the learning years.

Research and Educational Change

1. Do students have a higher chance of succeeding when there is a large amount of parent participation?2. Does parent participation delete separation anxiety with young children? The results that I gained from this research was very informative and caused me to want to revise the entire approach that I used for my students. I would make sure that I set up my classroom to make sure that it was warm and inviting to everyone that entered. I would make sure that I had an open line of communication with my parents so that we could remain on a level that was suitable for change and progression. I would also make sure that I create different ways for the parents to be involved and want to continue to be involved.

Research Questions

Materials and MethodsDifferent tools were used to make sure that documentation was made to show how the students were progressing and/or digressing to make sure that we knew what was causing it and what we could do to fix it. Daily Dairies were put in place so that parents and other individuals could see what the students were learning and exploring throughout the day as well as understand what the focus of the classroom was. Individual journals were also used to make sure that we were displaying sample work and photos of what they interacted with and how they approached each step on their own or with assistance. Documentation panels were also created to show how the students interacted as a group and what they seemed to gravitate towards the most.

Relevant Literature

After completing this research paper, I learned that it is not only important for parents to be involved but it is also important for teachers to make parents feel as if they are a part of the support team that encourages their student. When parents feel that they are welcome and a voice for their child, educators learn so much that they can include in the learning environment that can be beneficial to their students. Parents know more about their children than any other person so it is very important that they are active members of their child’s learning experience. Parental involvement so begin at an very early age so that children can become accustom of seeing their parents and understanding the role that their parents play in their educational journey.

Parental Involvement Rocks!

IntroductionMy research paper discussed the importance of parental involvement and the impact that it has on individual students’ success. When first going into this research topic, I known that parental involvement was very important but I didn’t quite understand the depth of parental involvement and how it could change the educational outlook for each student. I also thought that it was more important if it started in one age group and not so much in another. I also learned that all students seemed to like the attention of different adults that were excited to participate and interact with the children during the different learning experiences that took place throughout the day.
