Red Wolf Recovery ProgramIt is a breeding program, because of it there are approximately 100 red wolves roaming in their natural habitat in NC.
The last red wolves were found in the coastal prairie and marsh habitat, it was the last area where the red wolves were allowed to stay there. In 1960s due to the intensive predator control programs and loss of habitat, red wolves became endangered.
The red wolf or the canis rufus is similiar to a coyote. But its body is more bigger and robust. The red wolf is slightly smaller than the gray wolf.
