Audience Response What I noticed about the kids was that they love books. Every time I started to read a book they would listen with wide eyes and stare at the illustrations. There were times they did not understand a certain word and they wouldn't hesitate to ask what it was. At the end of every book, all the students would start sharing stories of their lives and how it relates to what they just read. They were able to follow along with the text and pictures and see how they followed eachother.
I would ask the students if they related to the main character in any way. The reason I chose this strategy is because with students this young, it allows them to think about past experiences and therefore learn the concept. Students responded very well to this strategy because they began to connect the topic to past experiences, such as not sharing, like the Rainbow Fish, and they grasped the consequence of that action. By using this strategy it allowed students to discuss what they learned and relate it to their past experiences.
