ExplanationThe caffeine, potassium benzoate, aspartame, and CO2 gas contained in the Diet Coke, in combination with the gelatin and gum arabic, the ingredients of the Mentos, all contributes to the jet effect when the mentos is dropped in the coke. The surface of the mint Mentos is littered with many small holes, thus allowing CO2 bubbles to form very rapidly and in great quantity, in turn causing the jet of foam to shoot out.

EXTRA FACTS- The larger the size of the mentos is the bigger reaction = Coke shoot higher- Only works on mint mentos, cause the other mentos have a smooth surface unlike the the mint which have a rough surface- If the temperature of the coke is low, the coke will be more reactive as the CO2 would be forcing its way out, thus making it more reactive- Frozen coke won't react- If the temperature is too high the coke will also be less reactive as all the CO2 would be release when the coke is being heated up- Evaporated coke won't react
