RadioactiveElements
Information
Radioative elements are elements that have rapidly degenerating nucleai which gives of radioactivity. All of the elements are unstable and let of poisionus waste. There are some natuarally occuring radioactive elements but most are synthetic. All elements with an atomic number over 83 are radioactive.
Uranium
Radon
Radium
Plutonium
Plutonium is a man made element that is created by bombarding uranium with denuetrons which creates neptunium which then decays into plutonium. It is used in space probes as part of a generator, for probes that go beyond the solar power like the galileo.
Radon is an invisible radioactive gas that is formed by unstable amounts of thorium and uranium degrading and giving of gas. It is usually found in granite buldings because it is found in small amounts in granite.
Radium was used to illuminate watch hands until to many factory workers died from radioactive oisoning. It will stay radioactive for a really long time. It was discovered by Marie Curie and is more deadly than uranium. It is found in uranium, but in very small amounts. One ton of uranium ore only has about .14 grams of radium.
Uranium is a radioactive element that is used in nuclear reactors to create energy. It is a very heavy element its density being about 20 grams per square centimeter. It is mostly used in armor piercing bullets, nuclear reactors, and counter weights
