PyongyangNorth Korea's Capital City
Pyongyang is the capital city of North Korea. The name literally means "flat land" in Korean. Pyongyang has also been given the name Ryugyong which means "captal of willows" because there are numerous willow trees in Pyongyang.
Located in the west-central part of North Korea, Pyongyang has a humid continental climate. The winters are very cold and dry.The summers are warm and wet. The average temperature is 25 degrees celsius in the summer.
The tallest building in Pyongyang is the Ryugyong Hotel. It is uncompleted and stands 1,080 ft (330 m) tall.
The Rungrado 1st of May Stadium was completed on May 1, 1989. It is said to be the largest stadium in the world, with a capacity of 150,000 people. It is used for football, a few sporting events, and mainly used for performances and shows that celebrate Kim-Il Sung and North Korea.
