Cohesion - Cohesionis when water molecules are atttracted to other water molecules

Adhesion -Adhesion occurs when a water molecule is attracted to a different type molecule, not a water molecule.

Heating capacity - The capability of a substance to absorb energy in the form of heat for a given increase in temperature. Materials with high heat capacities, such as water, require greater amounts of heat to increase their temperatures than do substances with low heat capacities, such as metals. (Etc)

POLAR -Water also known as H2O is a Polar molecule meaning that the there are polar/ "electric" forces between the O-H bonds .

Solid -Ice is frozen water. When water freezes, its molecules move farther apart, making ice less dense than water. This means that ice will be lighter than the same volume of water, and so ice will float in water. Water freezes at 0° Celsius, 32° Fahrenheit.

Gas —vapor is always present in the air around us. You cannot see it. When you boil water, the water changes from a liquid to a gas or water vapor. As some of the water vapor cools, we see it as a small cloud called steam. This cloud of steam is a miniversion of the clouds we see in the sky. At sea level, steam is formed at 100° Celsius, 212° Fahrenheit.

Liquid -Although the particles are still loosely connected they are able to move around. At this point the solid is melting to form a liquid.

Universal solvent -Water is capable of dissolving a variety of different substances, which is why it is such a good solvent. And, water is called the "universal solvent" because it dissolves more substances than any other liquid.

Surface tension -liquid that allows it to resist an external force, due to the cohesive nature of the water molecules.

Capillary Action -The drawing of a liquid (often against gravity) into or up narrow interstices due to surface tension

States - Water is able to take 3 states solid, liquid, and gas.
