Ratified.Justified?
Does the constitution still matter?
Who holds the power in America?
How would the founding fathers feel about America today?
In our first project, History of Me, you researched and reflected on your own personal history and identity. You especially connected who you are today to your own past and your family's roots.
It's no different a process with how we begin studying America. We begin with understanding where our country came from and why it was formed the way it was. What were the roots of "US"? How did we begin as a nation?
CONVENTION 2: JUSTIFIED?
#2
You will take part in TWO socratic conventions. ONE that will take place in the past and another which will take place in the present. BOTH will aim to discover the heart of our nation.
CONVENETION 1: RATIFIED
What: The Second Constitutional ConventionWhen: Septemeber 1787Who: Yourself, chosen state representatives
You have been personally chosen by your STATE to represent the interests of your community as the country struggles to create a lasting form of government after winning the war of Independence. How will you help secure prosperity while preventing tyranny? Will your dicussion still lead us to RATIFICATION?
#1
Two hundred and thirty years later, in your groups you will discuss in a socratic format, if we are still following the original frame set forth by those founding father framers. You will each choose one current event to discuss and use the Constitution and Bill of Rights to support your reasoning. To join in on your discussion you will each have a community expert to help you decide - according to the framers, are we JUSTIFIED?
What: Justified Constitutional ConventionWhen: Septemeber 2017Who: Yourself, well-informed American Studies Students
