1. Preschoolers experience primary individuation. During this stage, children are experiencing sense of self and are trying to define themselves.2. Preschoolers experience irrational thinking because they cannot yet grasp abstract concepts. 3. Preschoolers will have little to no memory before the age of 3 due to infantile amnesia ( Feldman 152)4. According to The Facts, by age 6, preschoolers brain size is 95 percent of its maximum size5. Preschoolers who attend high-quality preschools and receive high quality fundamental reading instruction, they will have richer vocabularies and firm basic math skills than their counterparts according to the NAtional Institute for Early Research.

1. Read to your child. 2. at this age, the child should help with simple chores.3. At this age, children should play with other children to help learn about sharing and friendship. 4. Discipline should be clear and consistent. 5. At this age, children should speak on complete sentences. 6. Help child sort through conflict through verbalizing feelings and emotions.

2 to 3 year olds love to play pretend.3 to 4 year olds love to jump on and off of things4 to 5 year olds can cut lines in paper with scissors. 5 to 6 year olds can ride a bike with training wheels.

physical: During preschool years, physical growth proceeds steadily. Children become more slender and stronger. Brain growth is rapid, and sensory processes are improved. Preschoolers my experience some to little difficult sleep patterns, and tend to eat less due to slowed down development. Also, fine and Gross motor skills improve rapidly, and gender differences emerge quickly. cognitive: Preschoolers are in Piaget’s preoperational stage, and during this time, children begin to have intuitive thoughts and quicker and effective thinking but lack organized, formal and logical thinking. According to Lev Vygotsky, preschoolers’ cognitive development is dependent on their cultural and social context. Also, during this time, preschoolers’ language development continues to grow during this stage. social: Preschoolers begin to form genuine friendships. Younger preschoolers engage in parallel and onlooker play while older preschoolers engage in constructive, associative, and cooperative play. Socially, preschoolers’ aggression is believed to be stemmed from environmental influences and social reinforcement. personality: Preschoolers develop independence over their social and physical worlds according to Erik Erikson, and preschoolers’ self-concepts stem from their own perceptions as well as their parents’ perceptions. During this time, preschoolers also develop moral cognition, and they may also demonstrate aggressive behavior.
