Pregnancy Prevention

A condom is a physical barrier that is usually made out of latex. A male condom is placed on the penis, when erect but before any physical contact, this blocks seman from entering the vagina. A female condom is a poleutherene sheath with a flexible ring at both ends, the closed end is inseted into the vagina, the open end sits outside the vagina. Female condoms line the walls of the vagina, creating a barrier between sperm and the cervix. Female condoms should be removed immediately after using them. Male condoms cost between 20 cents and $2.50, female condoms cost between $2-$4

What are condoms?

Birth control pills are pills that are taken daily, they contain hormones that change the way your body works to prevent pregnancy. These hormones control the uterus and ovaries. Most of these pills are a combination of the hormones estrogen and progesterone, to prevent the ovaries from releasing an egg during the monthly cycle. The pill also thickens mucus round the cervix, this makes it difficult for sperm to enter the to enter the uterus and reach the eggs. There are some pills that reduce the frequency of a womans period. If a pill is skipped one day or forgotton, the female will need to use an alternate form of birth control, such as condoms, or she will need to stop having sex for a while. A monthly dose of birth control pills may cost as much as $50.
