Poseidon always wanted to be a patron of a city, so one day he want to the surface to a city that is now known as Athens. When he got there he was in for a nasty suprise. Another god, or should I say goddess, also wanted Athens, that goddess was Athena. I'm sure by now you can guess who won, but I'll tell you the story any way. They both presented gifts for the Athenians. Poseidon created the first horses out of sea foam, he said that the horses were strong and would pull your carts and give you rides. Then Athena went and produced an olive tree. She said that the olives would be a great food source and the oil can light lamps and fires. She also said that they could be used for boats and Greece would soon become full of olive trees. So natrually they picked Athena and named it after her. This happened many times with several other gods he fought against Hera, Dionysus, and even Zues.

Fun Facts1. Poseidon lives in his underwater palace in the Aegean Sea2. He is one of the 12 Olympians3. His weapon of choice is the Trident4. His worst godly enemy is Athena5. His best companion is Dolphine the god of dolphins6. Poseidon got seconed best pick for realms when they were dividing the universe

The Family Poseidon is son of Rhea and Kronos. So that makes Poseidon brother of Zues, Hades, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia.Try not to think of it to much or then it gets weird, but that makes him uncle to Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Dionysus, Ares, Hepheastus, and Athena.
