What is it?

Treatment plans for plantar fasciitis are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, acetaminophen (Tylenol), heel and calf stretching exercises, night splints, and shoe inserts. It is usually successful but requires 6 to 18 months.

Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the band of tissue connecting the heel bone to the toes.

Symptoms

The plantar fascia becomes inflamed or irritated if too much tension is placed, tearing the fascia. It can be prevented by frequent stretching and avoiding strain on the fascia.

Pathophysiology

Plantar fasciitis will also lead to decreased vascularity and impaired nutritional blood flow through the compromised tissue. It also negatively affects running ability.
