The plains zebra, or Equus burchelli, is a mammal capable of reaching speeds of 45 mph. Zebras are herbivores and eat grasses and leaves and drinks from water holes. Zebras are 6.6 to 7.3 feet from head to end of body.Their stripes make them look like heat rising off the ground. Zebras have great eyesight, capable of spotting predadors from long distances.A zebra's gesiation period is 371 to 390 days. Zebra stallions have a kick so powerful, one could destroy the skull of a lion or other predators.
