Filipino's eat about five small meals a day. They eat breakfast, then eat a few hours later. That is called merienda, another one is eaten after lunch. Adobo, lechon, pancit, and Lumpia are foods that define the Philippines. My family doesn't eat five meals a day, except for my grandpa. My family and I all enjoy to eat all filipino food stated earlier. My pure filipino grandpa's specialty is his suman, which is prepared over a course of three days. But Filipino food is known by the preparation. Specifically when sweet, salty, and sour are combined in a dish, but always has fresh veggies.

The main religion in the philippines is Catholicism. There are many churches for everyone from the poor to the rich and wealthy. Almost every religion has some affect somewhere if the Philippeines, since it is so large. My family and I are christians and go to New Hope Hilo evry sunday. My father converted from Catholicism to Christianity with my mom who accepted Jesus when then were in high school. In my house everyone is christian as well as my extended family.

Traditionally Filipinos ate with their hands. There are still resturants without utensels and require you to eat with your hands. Otherwise they dine with a fork in one hand and a spoon in another. The fork belongs in the left hand while the spoon belongs in the other. The spoon is used like a knife to cut or break pieces of food for easy consumption. They also don't really have napkins, since they don't really use them. My family and I don't eat with forks and spoons but we all enjoy eating with our hands, even my pure japanese grandmother. My filipino grandmother used to say that food tasted better when eaten with your hands.
A major form of martial arts in the Philippines, is a very unorthodoxed one. Kali is the filipino art of stick fighting. It originated from the battles of the philippines. That's where they cases their swords with wood casings on bothe sides of the blade. It was held together with string, so when struck the sword would cut through the string. The wooden case alond with the wooden sword handle made it seem as if they were equiped with wodden swords. My uncle Jimmy had the oppertunity to train with the grandmaster that had fought in over 100 death battles. The grandmaster had the kali stick against his opponants sword of spear. Only my uncle has the information and experience in kali fighting. He has taught my dad and I a few moves since we accepted his offer.

Filipinos are very hospitalic and culturally welcoming and aren't abruptly rude. They are very supersticious and belive strongly in them. Filipinos are very family oriented and are close to very distant relatives. They have a great sense of humor. My family and I are very welcoming and are the make your self at home kinda family. We aren't supersticious at all and are opely close to all of our familys. My Aunts and Uncles are real jokesters.
Filipino shows and music if heavily infulenced by the U.S. All big movie star actors aren't full filipino, since they like the lighter skin hapa filipinos. Their comedy is very corny and trite, but that is realated to their culture. Their soap opras only last a few months as compared to year long american ones. We enjoy the filipino channels, but it has became a daily routine to watch it. TFC has subbtittles which allows me to better understand whats going on. My mom and grandma have picked up on quite a few filipino words, which they can teach me. Their favorite show is ASAP.
