PilgrimsPilgrims

By:Nikita, Coby, Vera and Panah

The Pilgrims chose Plimoth for several reasons. The ground was high so it was easier to defend.Streams of water flowed near by for drinking.Forests were close by for plenty of wood.and big long flat grassey fields were there for planting crops.

The challenges the Pilgrems faced were diseases and sicknesses so many people were sick and dying they called it the great sickness. The Pilgrims also faced coldness and starvasion because they were new there and they used all there food on the voyage.

The First Thanksgiving was in 1621. At the First Thanksgiving they played games and feasted. Also they cooked, hunted and farmed for food to eat. Squanto helped create the First Thanksgiving. The First Thansgiving was not called Thanksgiving, Historians call it the Harvest Fest of 1621. Edward Winslow's letter is a good primary source because it shows the pilgrims perspective of the First Thanksgiving. This is how the First Thanksgiving was.

The Pilgrims were strangers and separatists. The strangers traveled on the May Flower to go to land for riches. The separatists were people who wanted to travel on the May Flower to separate for religion. Every day life for the pilgrims was tiring and a lot of work. Some of the chores Sarah Morton had to do was make the fire, cook the food, milk the cows and goats and many more. Sarah Morton was lucky and she got to go to school not like that many other kids couldn't go to school. Sarah Morton would eat after the adults. That was the every day life of a pilgrim.
